Overview
Rosemary Cafe is a hidden gem tucked away in Joliet, Illinois, at 1730 Essington Rd. This cozy diner has built a reputation for serving comfort food with a fresh twist, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Whether you're stopping in for a quick breakfast, a hearty lunch, or a leisurely dinner, Rosemary Cafe provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere that keeps you coming back for more.
The menu at Rosemary Cafe is both diverse and approachable, offering something for every palate. One of the standout features is their ability to blend classic diner favorites with healthier options. For instance, the breakfast menu boasts a delicious range of eggs, pancakes, and freshly brewed coffee, but there are also lighter fare choices like avocado toast and smoothies. A particular crowd favorite is their signature rosemary-infused dishes, which add a unique, aromatic twist to everyday meals. The rosemary-scented potatoes served alongside their breakfast platters are the perfect example of how simple ingredients can be transformed into something extraordinary.
As a frequent visitor myself, I can confidently say that the customer service is top-notch. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel like family. On a recent visit, I ordered the rosemary-infused chicken salad, which came highly recommended by the server. The dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, with a light dressing that complemented the herbs without overpowering the ingredients. It's clear that the team at Rosemary Cafe takes pride in using quality ingredients, and their attention to detail shines through in every dish they serve.
Another aspect that sets Rosemary Cafe apart is its local charm. While the diner has become a go-to spot for many, it still maintains that small-town, homey feel that makes it so appealing. It's the kind of place where the staff remembers your name and your favorite dish, which creates a personal connection that larger chain restaurants just can't replicate. Many of the regular customers come for the food, but they stay for the sense of community and the friendly atmosphere.
When it comes to the drinks, Rosemary Cafe doesnβt disappoint either. They offer a selection of freshly brewed coffees, herbal teas, and refreshing juices. For those looking for something a bit more indulgent, their milkshakes are a must-try. On one visit, I had a strawberry milkshake that was creamy, thick, and perfectly sweetened. It's one of those treats that makes you feel like a kid again, and it's a great way to end a meal.
For lunch or dinner, the cafe serves a variety of sandwiches, salads, and hearty comfort food options. The grilled cheese with tomato soup is a classic, and their burger selection, including the rosemary-infused options, is a hit with anyone craving something a little more filling. If you're in the mood for something with a bit of kick, their spicy chicken sandwich is an excellent choice, combining the right amount of heat with juicy chicken and crisp lettuce.
Rosemary Cafe also pays special attention to dietary needs, offering vegetarian and gluten-free options. For those with dietary restrictions or preferences, the staff is more than happy to help customize a dish to suit your needs. Itβs clear that they go the extra mile to ensure everyone can enjoy a meal, no matter their dietary choices.
What really stands out at Rosemary Cafe is the atmosphere. The interior has a rustic charm, with comfortable seating and cozy lighting that makes it feel like the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Whether you're dining alone, with friends, or with family, you'll feel right at home. The location, right on Essington Rd, is convenient yet still tucked away enough to offer a peaceful dining experience without the hustle and bustle of more crowded areas.
If you're ever in the Joliet area, stopping by Rosemary Cafe is a must. With its friendly atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional service, itβs easy to see why it has become such a beloved spot in town. Whether you're craving a home-cooked meal or just looking for a great place to hang out, Rosemary Cafe is the perfect choice.

The food was delicious!! Love the crepe variety, this is pretty hard to find around breakfast places. We tried 3 different crepes. I got the Cuban crepe and it was really good the best out all three that we got; others were ham and cheese and Nutella sweet crepe. And the coffee and tea variety is good as well!! They have all the good proper options, not Just regular coffee out of a pot. It really was a pleasant surprise for our first visit! Service was good as well, place is cute and clean!
What a great experience, from the moment I walked in the door. I was greeted with a great smile and my waitress Lesley was awesome. The food was amazing and it came out perfect. Iβll hugely recommend this place for breakfast anytime youβre in Chicago.
The steak and eggs are always phenomenal. The potatoes are always very good quality great coffee. The only issue is the toast always comes out beyond stale Iβve been here probably 20 times and never have had good toast everything else is very good
First, the food ingredients are of high quality and the choices are incredible. Combine that with a cook whose skill with the grill is unmatched and a waitress (Monica) who was always attentive, cheerful, and respectful made for the perfect meal for myself and my wife. Finally, the pricing was a bargain! You cannot go wrong with this wonderful Cafe, and we can't wait to try the other restaurants operated in the area by these owners!
You must visit this place. Service is amazing, and the food was delicious. Our server Megan was attentive and very polite.
The food was very good. (I recommend the strawberry crepes.) But the service was above and beyond. I was there with two friends and we didn't think to request separate checks, but when our waitress realized it, she wrote new separate checks. We spent a lot of time chatting before ordering and a lot of time chatting after we ate, and they didn't rush us at all. The waitress happily took a photo for us. And when I left my sweater, a waitress came running out to the parking lot to return it. We will definitely be going back there.
